Camper Behavior Procedure

ELC Camper Behavioral Procedure

1st act of misconduct:  Counselor or other adult brings camper to education staff member who is not teaching camps (if no education staff in office, child will be sent to administration staff member). Education staff member speaks with camper, shows them the contract, and gives them some time out of activities (approx. 20 minutes). During this time the child can sit quietly, lay down, read, or color.

2nd act of misconduct: Child is brought to education staff member not teaching camps and put on contract. Parent/guardian is called about the incident and informed that their child will be sent home if there is further issue.  Upon pickup, the camper, counselor and director of education sign the contract and each gets a copy, with an additional copy going into the camper’s file. The camper also receives more time out of activity and the education staff member will talk with the camper about what they can do to avoid future misconducts.

3rd act of misconduct: Child is brought to education staff member not teaching camps.  If the child has broken the contract, staff will call home and tell the parent/guardian that their child must be picked up from camp that day.

4th act of misconduct: Child is expelled from camp for the summer without refund.

If there is an issue where the child is a danger to themselves or others, they will be sent home without any of the above steps.
